Saona is more than a quick photo stop. Your day begins with hotel pickup, continues by road to Bayahibe and changes pace as soon as you board. Sailing, music, a natural pool, lunch and several hours at the beach are coordinated in one booking.
The outbound and return crossings combine a speedboat and catamaran. The speedboat covers the route efficiently; the catamaran is the relaxed part, with music, bilingual entertainment and room to enjoy the Caribbean. The order may change with daily operations.
We stop at a clear, shallow natural pool where the water is usually around waist height. You can swim and observe starfish in their habitat. They should be viewed underwater and never handled or lifted for photographs.
On the island you will have free time to swim, walk beneath the palms or simply switch off. The buffet normally includes grilled meats, rice, pasta, salad and fruit. Water, soft drinks and national beverages are served during the boat and island service.
Local advice: eat breakfast before pickup and carry only what you need. It is a long, sunny day with two boat boardings. If you are prone to motion sickness, take your usual remedy before reaching Bayahibe.
